Spain's Corporate Income Tax Act includes the creation of advanced software within R&D. Where a project delivers a substantial technological novelty or improvement, part of its eligible expenditure may be credited against corporate tax.

Software involving technologically new or substantially improved algorithms, processes or functionality.
Important
It is not automatic and does not cover maintenance or minor updates. Project classification, expenditure and documentation should be reviewed by a specialised tax adviser.
